Bring the audition, the difficult passage, the chord changes, or the musical question you can’t quite solve on your own.
Send a recording of your playing or singing. I’ll personally review it and record a feedback video for you, with demonstrations and clear next steps.

Good coaching connects what you hear, what you understand, and what you can actually do.
That might mean finding a better voicing, shaping a phrase, feeling the groove, or telling the story in a song. We’ll work with music that matters to you and turn close listening into practical next steps.

You play or sing. I listen, demonstrate, and help you try a different approach. We work on the music together, then give your next practice session a clear focus.
You can start with one paid lesson. We’ll decide together whether an ongoing schedule would be useful.

I’m Austin, a pianist, music director, arranger, and educator. Playing jazz means listening and responding. Directing musical theatre means helping a performer tell a story. Arranging means hearing how the parts fit. In a lesson, those skills become practical ways to help you with your own music.

GOOD TO KNOW
Absolutely. Live lessons take place online over Zoom, and video performance coaching lets us work together without matching schedules. Include your city or time zone and a few convenient lesson times in your inquiry so we can check scheduling. Recorded feedback does not require us to be online together.
Adults, returning players, and experienced pianists are welcome, with no previous jazz experience required. Online lessons work especially well when you can work independently at the keyboard. For a beginner or younger learner, tell me a little about their experience so we can discuss the right format and support.
Yes. Piano and jazz piano are Austin’s main specialties, alongside trumpet, voice, and audition coaching. Musicians on other instruments are welcome, too. Coaching can address interpretation, phrasing, rhythm, style, harmony, performance preparation, and overall musicianship.
No. You can start with one paid lesson, book focused coaching when you need it, or discuss an ongoing schedule. There is no need to choose a long-term arrangement before your first session.
Standard piano lessons are $100 USD for 60 minutes or $75 USD for 45 minutes. Video performance coaching is $75 USD for a focused review or $125 USD for an in-depth review, with scope and delivery details agreed before booking. Specialized live coaching is quoted individually.
Your instrument or space to sing, a reliable internet connection, and a device that can run Zoom. For piano, position the camera so Austin can see your hands and keyboard. Headphones can help with listening; we can work through your audio setup together.
At Austin’s home studio in South Austin, near South 1st Street and Slaughter Lane, on an acoustic Chickering grand piano. The exact address is shared when your lesson is arranged.
Yes. A parent or guardian can make the first inquiry. Share the learner’s age, instrument, experience, and what they enjoy about music. We’ll discuss a suitable format and any support they may need before arranging a lesson.
I’ll reply personally by email to discuss your goals, answer questions, and confirm availability, format, and price. Sending an inquiry does not book a session or commit you to payment. If it feels like a good fit, we’ll arrange the first session together.

Austin will help you choose a $75 USD focused review or a $125 USD in-depth review, then confirm the scope, turnaround, and how to share your recording before you send it. Both reviews include a feedback video recorded personally by Austin, with musical demonstrations and practice priorities.
